Lounge lizard…

As a happy birthday to me, I got myself a new phone which meant getting new ringtones.  I spent quite awhile trying to find something worthy when I finally found the Paul Anka tones.  That’s right.  I said Paul Anka.  Because, you see, they had several selections from Paul’s Rock Swings album.

I finally settled on Paul Anka - The Way You Make Me Feel (Michael Jackson cover), mostly because they didn’t have Paul Anka - Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden cover).  In fact, I think that was the only song from the album they didn’t have.  Go figure.

Paul’s album rocks, there’s no doubt.  But I have to say that if I’m going to be listening to lounge-ified songs, my first stop will always be Richard Cheese.  Seriously, I cannot get enough of the Dick.  In fact, today they are releasing a new album consisting of television theme songs called Dick At Night.  I haven’t heard any of the tracks yet but I can’t wait to get it.  Whereas Anka’s album does have it’s funny moments, you get the feeling that it is unintentional.  Dick’s, on the other hand, is very obviously meant to have a sense of humor.

So in honor of both my ringtone and the new album, some more lounge-y goodness.

Paul Anka - Eyes Without a Face (Billy Idol cover)
The other possibility for my ringtone. It was a tough choice but I finally decided the finger-snapping tempo of the other gave me more glee.

Richard Cheese - Rape Me (Nirvana cover)
"Here’s one for the ladies!"

Richard Cheese - Down With the Sickness (Disturbed cover)
Probably Dick’s most well-known cover thanks to it being featured in Dawn of the Dead.

Richard Cheese - Milkshake (Kelis cover)
I know I just posted a Milkshake cover but this is such a quickie that I can’t resist throwing it in.

Steve & Eydie - Black Hole Sun (Soundgarden cover)
Apparently this song lends itself to lounge because this version appears on the Lounge-a-palooza album along with other lounge covers by various artists.

Pat Boone - Crazy Train (Ozzy Osbourne cover)
Not the best off his In a Metal Mood: No More Mr. Nice Guy album but made popular by it’s use as The Osbournes’ reality show theme song.  It in fact was one of the reasons I watched the show.

Pat Boone - Enter Sandman (Metallica cover)
I think this is the best off that album.  It’s wrong.  So very wrong.  But that’s what makes it so right.
